CANADIAN OLYMPIC TEAM ADDS TWO NEW NOMINEES FOR OLYMPIC SHOOTING
Niefer and Ludwig newest nominees to join 2012 Olympic Team
OTTAWA – Today, the elite membership of the Canadian Olympic Team grew by two more nominees as the Shooting Federation of Canada nominated the two athletes who will represent Canada in the sport of shooting at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Cory Niefer and Dorothy Ludwig are both nominated to be part of the Canadian cohort heading to London just a few short weeks from now.
Both Niefer and Ludwig are both first-time nominees to the Canadian Olympic Team but are no strangers to the Olympic journey. While Niefer spent the Beijing 2008 Games as a coach, Ludwig is continuing a family legacy as she follows in her father’s footsteps to the Olympic Games, proudly coached by her sister.
“We’re thrilled to add Cory and Dorothy to the growing list of amazing athletes who will be wearing the Maple Leaf in London this summer,” said Chef de Mission Mark Tewksbury. “I know that this is going to be one of the most amazing experiences of their lives and I’m very proud of both of them.”
“On behalf of the Shooting Federation of Canada, I would like to congratulate first time Olympic nominees Cory Niefer and Dorothy Ludwig on the achievements that earned them quota places in the shooting sports at the London 2012 Olympic Games,” said Asmir Arifovic, President of the Canadian Shooting Federation.”We are proud and excited to follow our dedicated athletes to the final stages of their Olympic voyage.”
